Purchasing a power adaptor is highly recommended because you will need it for the Video receiver. Otherwise, you will have to use a 9V battery, which will be a major inconvenience over time, because the 9V batteries are drained a lot faster by the receiver than by the camera. You may also want an AC adaptor for your camera, depending on your intended use for it.
